LDAP Course Administrator's Guide

Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) integration provides your Möbius service with single sign-on (SSO) access and allows it to receive user profile information from a central repository of users, called the LDAP server, managed by your institution's IT group.

When integrated by your IT group, the LDAP server manages all Möbius user profiles automatically. Möbius authenticates the user's login with the LDAP server, meaning that users only need their university username and password to log. Möbius also receives basic user profile information from the LDAP server, such as email address and student ID.

Other changes to Möbius with the LDAP integration are as follows:
  1. Any user registered in the LDAP server can login to Möbius; if not already registered then they will automatically become an active user in Möbius.
  2. The Add User option for Administrators (found in the System User Manager menu) is used to locate users in the LDAP server who are not in Möbius, and add them to Möbius manually.
  3. All users being added to a class by a roster file (using the Class User Manager - Import Users from Roster menu option) must already be registered in Möbius.
