Using the constants 'e' and 'i' in Response Areas

Maple recognizes e and i as characters and not constants.  Maple and Maple T.A. instead use exp(1) to represent e and capital i, I, to represent i.

In order to use these in a Maple T.A. question, you can include $e=exp(1); and $i=I; respectively in the Algorithm section, and use this e or exp(1) and i or I in the Response area.  In this way, Maple T.A. will still be able to mark the question correctly, and students can input e and i instead of having to input exp(1) and I for correct answers.

Example

Answer field:  2*exp(1)^3       (shown to the right in image)
Algorithm body:   $e=exp(1);
