Changing Session Timeout in Maple T.A.

Students and Instructors may find themselves logged out of their Maple T.A. session when working on a question without interacting with the server for a long time. This is due to the built-in Tomcat session timeout dropping the session after a set period of time as a security measure to prevent another person from accessing the account in a shared environment.

The Tomcat session timeout setting can be altered by increasing the value of the <session-timeout> parameter in your <Tomcat>/webapps/mapleta/WEB-INF/web.xml file. The default is set for 30 minutes, but bumping this up to 60 minutes should be a safe medium for students and staff who are crafting long question responses. Note that you will have to restart your Tomcat session for the settings change to take effect.
